About Dr. Michael M. Paparella
Dr. Michael M. Paparella is the founder of the Otopathology laboratory in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Minnesota. As one of the world's most renowned ear-nose-and throat surgeons, Dr. Paparella through his research has been responsible for numerous innovations which have increased our understanding of ear diseases. He has published over 600 books, chapters and articles for scientific journals throughout his career.
Dr. Paparella is chairman emeritus of the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Minnesota. He has also held academic appointments at Harvard University, Ohio State University and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. As founder of the International Hearing Foundation, he has been responsible for the training of hundreds of local as well as international ear surgeons. Dr. Paparella continues to direct the activities of the Otopathology Laboratory which is dedicated to otologic research, education and public service. Research areas include otitis media, otosclerosis and Meniere’s disease.
