EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct teaching to hundreds of health care professionals including medical students, residents, international fellows, clinical fellows and visitors. Since 1984 teaching priorities have been directed mostly to clinical and international fellows.
Many past students have distinguished themselves by becoming contributors to society and the field of otolaryngology including full-time faculty members (60), professors and chairmen (20) of Otolaryngology Departments in the United States and other countries.
Advisor to dozens of trainees in the Graduate School at the University of Minnesota,
during the acquisition of M.S. & Ph.D. degrees in the field of otolaryngology.
Many visitors (otolaryngologists) directly observe methods of patient care in the clinic setting and in the operating room on an ongoing basis.
PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY - Teaching and Charity
Quality patient care is stressed using both traditional and innovative methods. Many methods of diagnosis and treatment, including some diagnostic equipment and most surgical instruments (including the system used for otological surgery) have been innovated, used and taught.
Charity is practiced and taught through personal service and financial contributions. This includes service to patients in need, the International Hearing Foundation which is dedicated to research, education and public service and continued support of the University of Minnesota.
